NOTICE OF VACANCY/APPOINTMENT
HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT
The Town of Otselic is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Town Highway Superintendent. This is a full-time appointed position reporting to the Town Board to fulfill a vacant elected position until December 31, 2026.
Position Summary:
The Highway Superintendent is responsible for the overall management of the town highway department, including the construction, repair, and maintenance of town roads, bridges, culverts, and sidewalks. Key responsibilities include snow removal, brush removal, overseeing equipment maintenance, budgetary management, and supervision of department staff.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise, train, and direct highway department personnel.

Develop and implement an annual road maintenance and improvement plan.

Manage the department budget and oversee expenditures.

Ensure all town equipment is maintained and properly operated.

Respond to public concerns regarding road conditions in a timely manner.

Coordinate with county/state transportation departments.

Minimum Qualifications:
-
5 years of experience in road construction, maintenance, or heavy equipment operation.

2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity is a plus.

Valid NY Driver’s License CDL Class

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
